This summer we plan to offer two jazz ensemble groups: one for students playing at NYSSMA solo grades 1-3 and a second group for those who play at grades 4-6.  Each group will rehearse throughout the week then perform in the Showcase Concert. By focusing on playing various genres of jazz, we will incorporate ear-training, jazz improvisation, rhythmic exploration, and more!

Daily Schedule

Rehearsals will be in the Matt's Music Event Center. Students will arrive at 9:45am. We will rehearse from 10am-12pm, break for snacks, and then play again from 12:30-1:30pm.  Students must be picked up no later 1:45pm. The Showcase Concert starts at 1pm on Friday, August 15th.

We will also offer an extra session for Mary DiCioccio's PhD research project exploring and documenting the fascinating connections between math and muisc. This will be a paid opportunity for select Jazz Camp students. We will have more information on this later!
